Fousion Gallery is honoured to present the upcoming solo show "Nature Peinture" by Bruno Pontiroli.
The title of the show it’s used in French as an expression of someone unfiltered, raw and natural. A dive into the interpretations of Normality.
The normal way of looking at something implies an established point of view, shaped by history, physics, industry, cultural definitions, observations, and even personal experiences or beliefs. A wide range of factors can, at any moment, redefine what normality is and what it means on a personal or social level, as well as its consequences.
A natural vision can morph into a variety of personal viewpoints through constant change and questioning, driven by diverse inputs, moods, perceptions, and sensations in today’s world.
In this new series of works we see a giraffe with multiple heads sprouting out of its back or an elephant with countless trunks all over its body, all exquisitely painted in the style and manner of works from the European Age of Enlightenment. This era and its art served to establish its own legitimacy with a set of beliefs and accepted definitions under the banner of ‘normal’.
The illogical perceptions of space, time, and narrative give the freedom to define one’s own norms and to subvert physical rules, reclaiming new definitions and freedoms through the distortion of perspectives.
By adding multiple, additional limbs to any given animal Bruno Pontiroli delicately and humorously tickles established normality. He playfully reminds us of the freedom to distort what exists within our collective knowledge.
