A live audio-visual performance that explores the poetics of chaos and their relation to encryption technologies.
Chaotic, truly random strings of numbers are essential to robust encryption technologies. Yet paradoxically according to chaos theory, deterministic patterns emerge within chaos itself, reminding us that all encryption methods are vulnerable to being cracked. Jasmine & ilan sonically and visually unravel certain logics of chaos; it’s apparent randomness as underlying patterns, feedback loops and repetition emerge, to consider the myth of total security and what this might imply for encryption technologies on which networked societies have become dependent.
